Festival of Choirs has been organised by the Mid Canterbury Choir in order to support Mt Hutt College Choir and Rolleston College Vocal Group “Gelsomina” who are both performing at the Big Sing Regional in Christchurch Town Hall in early June.
Not only is this concert an opportunity for Mt Hutt, Rolleston and Ashburton Christian Schools (ACS) choirs to polish their repertoire, and shine in their wider community, but also for the voices of our region to join together in celebration and song. Rolleston and ACS are entering the regional competition for the first time. This concert will be an absolute treat for any lover of choral music.
The school choirs are ably supported by The Mid Canterbury Choir, Quantum Acoustics (a 40-strong barbershop-type group), Ashburton Christian School (aspiring to enter the Big Sing next year)
The programme is rich and varied with each choir performing 2-3 of their own songs and joining together for 2 massed items – over 100 voices.
